The North of Peru is rich in archaeology and history. Travel visiting the remains of amazing pre-Inca civilizations like the Moche, Chimu and Chachapoyas.

Day 1


Chiclayo is a bustling, commercial city, 769 km north of Lima, only a short distance through sugar cane fields from the famed Moche mausoleum of Sipan. After its discovery and unearthing in 1987, Sipan's tombs have yielded a wealth of dazzling gold, silver and copper jewellery dating back to around 300 AD. Ongoing excavations are uncovering even more gold-filled tombs.
On arrival at Chiclayo airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2


Today, you will visit the magnificent mud-brick burial platform of Huaca Rajada where the world famous Tomb of the Lord of Sipan was discovered. Admire fabulous gold artifacts, precious stones and the ancient Moche civilization's history. Afternooon visit to Tucume, an imposing 26 pyramids site of the Lambayeque culture. Afterwards, visit the brand new Tumbas Reales Museum and discover the historical richness there. Lunch included.


Day 3

Chiclayo / Trujillo

Today, you will be driven to Trujillo, located around 4hs away, south, along the Panamericana Highway. You will be driving through the arid Desert, broken periodically by fertile valleys, with the view of the Pacific coast to the west and the foothills of the Andes to the east. On arrival, check into your hotel.
This afternoon, you will be taken to the Moche Valley to visit the adobe pyramids of the Sun and Moon which dominate the valley. This area was the religious and cultural center of the Moche civilization. Recent excavations have uncovered walls decorated with polychromatic designs.


Day 4


This morning, you will be taken on a half day tour of Chan Chan ruins.
Chan Chan is one of the most important archaeological sites in Peru. Declared by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site, Chan Chan is the largest and most important city of mud surviving from pre-Hispanic America. Its palaces were built by a succession of rulers of this capital of the Chimú government. On this tour, you can see how people lived in this ancient culture, and visit the streets, canals, reservoirs, plazas and walled palaces of this great city.


Day 5


Transfer to the airport.




Accommodation at selected hotel category, meals, private transfers and tours with local English speaking guide as per itinerary.
